It all started with a fluffy dog named Bumble, a Great Pyrenees Mountain Dog. Our family adopted him from Big Fluffy Dog Rescue in 2017. Sweet Bumble passed in 2022. In 2023 we adopted Wolfgang (Wolfie) from Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri. Bumble and Wolfgang have filled our lives with love and covered our house, clothing, car, and more (!) with their magical fur.
Abundant as it is, why not “(p)up-cycle” this fuzzy resource?
Great Pyr Designs specializes in making custom needle-felted miniature likenesses of long-hair dogs such as the Great Pyrenees, Eskie, Samoyed, and Huskies with their own fur.
Let Great Pyr Designs create a tiny fuzzy memory of your dog for you!
In June 2025 Great Pyr Designs will be collaborating with Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue in a “Fuzzy Fundraiser.” Half of monies raised in the fundraiser will support Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue in their critical work “to community education about Great Pyrenees dogs and to the rescue, care, and responsible adoption of Great Pyrenees and Great Pyrenees mixes.”
For millennia people across the globe have spun yarn with the fur from their beloved canine companions. The word, “chiengora,” combines the French word for dog, “chien,” and “gora,” which refers to the soft wool of Angora rabbits. In a new “spin” (pun intended) on the practice of creating “chiengora,” Great Pyr Designs exchanges the spinning wheel for the felting needle.
